Tom Kendzia Concert: Thursday 29th April 8pm

Tom Kendzia, the well-known composer and performer of liturgical and gospel music from the United States, will give a concert in the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Johnstown/Killiney on Thursday 29th April at 8pm.

We are very fortunate to have Tom give a concert in our church. A heart-warming night's entertainment is promised. Tom will be joined by our own Johnstown Gospel Choir.

The suggested donation is €5.

Life In The Spirit Begins Wednesday 14th April

We have been planning the 'Life In The Spirit' seminars for a long time now. It's hard to believe they are about to begin, but they are.

The first seminar is on Wednesday 14th April at 7.45pm in Johnstown Pastoral Centre. They will continue each Wednesday until June 2nd.

The seminars will help us to see the Holy Spirit at work in our personal lives and in the life of the Church.

The Office for Evangelisation, of the Archdiocese of Dublin, has released a newsletter to accompany the Gospel of Luke during the season of Lent. Girls School Confirmation

Congratulations to the 6th Class girls of Our Lady of Good Counsel GNS who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday 5th March. The celebrant was Fr. Peadar Murney PP. It was a wonderful celebration. Special thanks to Mrs. Dalton and Ms. Casey the class teachers and Mrs. Quinn, the school principal. Thanks also for all the efforts of the classroom assistants, school secretaries, the school choir and their teachers, the church sacristan, altar servers, ministers of the eucharist and all others who helped make the day so special. Well done again to the girls, we hope you had a marvellous day.

Service of Light - 6th Class Girls

The 6th Class of the Girls School in Johnstown will celebrate their Service of Light on Tuesday 23rd February at 8pm in Johnstown Church. At the service, the Baptism Candle will be formally handed over to the girls by their parents, a symbol that in the years to come, they will take responsibility for their own faith. The Baptism Candle, a symbol of the child's faith, was entrusted to the parents and godparents at the celebration of Baptism. The Service of Light is part of the preparations for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which the girls will receive on Friday 5th March at 11.00am.

Gospel of Saint Luke - A Copy For Everyone

As part of the Year of Evangelisation in the Dublin Archdiocese, a copy of the Gospel of Saint Luke will be made available to all parishioners. The Office for Evangelisation has produced a very attractive and engaging version of Saint Luke's Gospel. It is the hope of the Office for Evangelisation that the whole church in Dublin will reflect on Saint Luke's Gospel, and grow in our faith. It will be made available to parishioners in Johnstown/Killiney during Masses on Saturday/Sunday 20th/21st February. Make sure you get your copy.

8.30am Mass During Lent

During the season of Lent, there will be Mass at 8.30am and 10am from Monday to Friday. The Mass at 8.30am replaces the usual 9.05am Mass.

Time Out for Busy People, 7 - 12 March 2010

The Cenacle Sisters in Johnstown Parish are organising a Week of Guided Prayer for anyone who would like to 'make a retreat' in the midst of a busy life. The week of guided prayer begins with a meeting on Sunday 7th March at 5pm in the Church of the Apostles, Willow Vale, Ballybrack, and continues until Friday 12th March. Each day, the participant meets with a spiritual guide and is given a passage of scripture on which to reflect. The guide will also listen to them and give them direction. There is no fee to take part, but donations are appreciated. It is necessary to book in advance. Contact Sr. Helen Grealy 2840175 or Colette McCarthy 2823390. We pray God may truly bless all who are involved with this initiative.

Holy Land Pilgrimage

Fr. Peadar Murney will lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from Johnstown Parish later this year. The pilgrimage will take place from 22nd October until 1st November 2010. Ash Wednesday

Wednesday 17th February is Ash Wednesday. Blessed ashes will be distributed at Masses at 8.30 and 10am and at 7.30pm. For the season of Lent, the early Mass will be celebrated at 8.30am.
